ALL THINGS MUST PASS

Felt like posting a few sketches and previous works, which seem to have some sort of aesthetic conversation.
The first one was a working drawing for a 9-Volt Haunted House related DIY release. The second image is an appropriated Playboy bunny-rabbit which was manipulated to be used as a flier for a particular show, from long ago. The “three” is relevant. It creates laughter and chuckles in the hearts of my constituents even today. Side splitting laughs indeed. I supplied the end rest as well (finished flier), which I dug up from the archives.

The next set of images were used for another flier which I am most interested in: Graffiti. These two photographs were taken of some gutted building in Houston,Texas. Not sure which neighborhood, but I am wagering that it was not the infamous Fifth Ward. The hooded image was then essentially laid atop (plopped down upon) another image of a nun, and then you have…

This is what happens (every so often) when one uses commercial/retail film developing and disposable cameras (from BIG BOX STORES in particular). Every now and then you find these “end of the line/end of the roll” happy accidents and carelessness on the part of the process technician which amount to a peculiar composition. I have selected a few of them from various times, scenarios and locales for you.
Cheers!

I really got to find out what these things are called. For a lack of what they may be, these will be called “J-fold” side cards from compact disks as they sit shrink wrapped in the store. They seem to act as an extra advertisement that says “no, buy me!” They sort of mimic the look of a digi-pak, but conceal yet another jewel case. They are found often on import CDs in addition to releases from Ryko and Tzadik. To most people they simply serve as superfluous packaging to be discarded. I sort of dig them. Yes, they are a bit wasteful but they make great bookmarks. I have so many of them though (as indicated by this small glance at my music collection). It may be time for them to serve a greater cause. Epoxied to a table top? Shadow box or framed collage, hanging on the wall? They have much craft and graphic design potential. I don’t know.

I had to delete some posts.
