I have posted this material promoting this delightful and worthwhile event as a friendly shout out to my buddy David.
If you have the chance, do attend! :)
Cheers!
From Old Brooklyn Connected:

“Our historic downtown district is about to get a great boost this May when Pop UP Pearl takes the stage. On May 21st, the Old Brooklyn Community Development Corporation and its community partners are taking the opportunity to create a demonstration “complete street”. Complete streets are those that accommodate all users whether they are old, young, disabled, transit users, automobile drivers, cyclists or pedestrians.

When an area commits to completing its streets, it makes a commitment to the safety and security of its residents, while also creating a street ideal for storefront retail. Pop UP Pearl is modeled on the Better Block project, first undertaken in Dallas in 2010, and will create a temporary “complete street” with lively pop-up shops, vibrant street life and a clear vision of what downtown Old Brooklyn can be.

Although temporary, the Pop UP Pearl event is tied to the in-progress redesign of Pearl Rd. between Wildlife Way and State Rd. As such, it acts as a catalyst for the project and a demonstration of what it may look like upon completion.

Pop UP Pearl will feature local artists and entertainers, temporary bike lanes and café seating. If you would like to participate, either as a volunteer or as a participant, please contact Lori Peterson, Christopher Lohr or David Waldman at 216-459-1000.”
